I am proud to bring to market a very well run, ethical practice with a loyal patient base, some of whom have been attending this practice for 30 years! Both husband and wife GP are seeking retirement pre the end of the current financial year and will stay for a 3 month transition to allow the new owner to be introduced to their patients and to allow the current owners to say good bye to their patients! For some families, 3x generations will be losing their GP when this GP couple retire!
The surgery needs at least 2 doctors with consulting rooms for 3. The patients are accustomed to having a female doctor and a male doctor on site. The male GP works for about 4.5 days per week as does the female. In addition to seeing GP patients during the business hours within the clinic they are also supporting more than 20 patients in an aged care residence, supporting local air crew with aviation medicals plus working in a VMO role after hours as a sexual health practitioner. It is not essential to the sale of their business than any of these additional roles are taken over by the incoming buyer. Additional responsibilities include supporting a medical student 2x days a week. That person is in their final year of studies and will continue to come to the clinic on a Thursday and a Friday until July 2021. The government does pay additional incentives to the practice owner for each session that the student is there.
Other staff at the practice include 2x nurses, who each work 3x days at this practice (the clinic is open 6 days a week with the following opening hours: Monday to Fri 9am – 12.30pm, 2:30pm – 5pm + Saturday from 8am – 11am). The nurses support the patients with CDM/Care plans and health assessments. There are 3x clerical staff with a PM working 3 days, the junior receptionist working 4 days and every other Sat, plus a senior receptionist working 3 days and every other Sat. All staff are on contract.
Car parking is not an issue for the patients or the business owners as there are 3x car parks for the Drs and PM to use, plus more than 100 car parks in the nearby council car park that is free for 8 hours. There are 2x disabled car bays in this large car park and there is ramp access at the rear of the practice for anyone that needs to avoid steps. Also nearby in the same building is pathology and imaging which have either been in the same location or a nearby locations for the last 30 years so this is a very stable health precinct. With 4x electronic beds, a treatment room, a PM room and a nurse work station this accredited clinic was due to have its 3-yearly audit in 2020 however due to COVID, this has been pushed back to April 2021….everything is in readiness for this. All patient files are run though Best Practice.
The building is rented from a commercial landlord and it is anticipated that a request for a new long-term lease would be met with agreement. The medical centre is within a small office building with other professionals including a lawyer, pathology + imaging. The landlords for each unit are all different and the building is strata titled, so there is no option to buy the building. Currently the lease is month-to-month and a copy of the rental details is available whilst the lease has expired. The practice was eligible for Job Keeper, so profits have remained high for this practice and all of the staff have been retained during 2020!
