Senior Registrar/Registrar Emergency Medicine - Tasmania, TAS

  • Salary Type: $131,000 to $183,500 per annum (pro rata) + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

The Role:
We are seeking Emergency Medicine Registrars/Senior Registrars who are available to join a large teaching Hospital, this position is accredited for training.

The department is accredited for 3 years of ACEM training and offers accredited rotations to general medicine, anaesthetics, hyperbaric medicine, paediatrics, and ICU. Rural hospital posts can also be arranged.

Consultants coordinate a comprehensive preparation program for both the ACEM primary and fellowship exams with a high pass rate, and the coursework required for the ACEM Trainee Research Requirement is offered, fully subsidised, through an arrangement with the University of Tasmania which has academic links with the department.

  • $131,000 to $183,500 per annum (pro rata) + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging
  • Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
  • Generous relocation support package up to $15,000
     

Consultants provide direct clinical supervision of the department from 0800 until 2300, seven days a week.

Based in the scenic waterfront area of Hobart, Tasmania, as one of our Registrars you’ll provide emergency care to patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) at the Hospital.

A wide variety of non-ED rotations available, including anaesthetics, intensive care, paediatrics, and trauma. Candidates can be supported through other rotations, including hyperbaric medicine, neonatal/paediatric ICU, general medicine, and more. The mixed ED is accredited for the paediatric logbook, and we have PEMs on staff.

The education program is highly valued within the department and runs as a full day each fortnight. Registrars are specifically rostered to these days to avoid clinical demands interfering with their attendance. In addition to the whole-cohort education program, there are separate and dedicated preparation programs for the ACEM primary and fellowship examinations.

Rostering is flexible to help maintain a work-life balance. We are very understanding of the importance of time outside of work and can accommodate part-time needs.

The Hospital:
The Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the state of Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry and is the state’s tertiary trauma centre. Our busy, Emergency Department provides care for 75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 25%. It also runs a 16 bed Emergency Medical Unit.

Skills & Qualifications required:
Registrable as a Senior Registrar/Registrar (Emergency Medicine) with Australian Health Practitioner
Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
