You will provide a quality specialist clinical obstetric and gynaecological consultant service to both our inpatients and outpatients. A high level of interpersonal communication skills is essential, as is an empathetic, kind and supportive approach with our patients. You will be committed to quality improvement, patient safety and a passion for continued self-education and development.

There are eight operating theatres, 2000 deliveries per annum, high dependency, and intensive care. A day surgery unit is also to be functional in 2024.

Hospital:
A 364-bed accredited Teaching Hospital, clinical services are delivered to approximately 300,000 people from 29 facilities, including one large regional referral hospital, one extended inpatient mental health service, three medium sized regional hub hospitals, twelve rural hospitals, three multipurpose health services, three community outpatient clinics and six residential aged care facilities.
 
In conjunction with the District, it provides an integrated network of acute, mental health, aged care, community and allied health inpatient and outpatient services. There are 79 non-consultant hospital doctors and approximately 30 staff specialists across the various specialties. In addition, there are approximately 40 visiting specialists, who provide services to this hospital.
 
Location:
Just 90 minutes from Brisbane, this is a modern city with access to all major services and facilities. There is plenty to see and do – take advantage of the many galleries, heritage exhibitions, museums, restaurants, and a great range of shopping centres around the city.
 
It has a temperate climate and is one of the few regions in Queensland with four distinct seasons. The education, training and tertiary sectors are well catered for, with both private and public schools, vocational training providers and 2 universities in the region. There is also a wide variety of sporting options available for all ages.
 
It is nicknamed ‘The Garden City’, with more than 240 public parks and gardens!!
 
Skills/Qualifications:

  • The essential capabilities, knowledge and experience for this role are:
  • Demonstrated clinical and technical expertise with appropriate knowledge, skills, and ability to deliver quality specialist care in anaesthesia.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to work with and lead other staff.
  • High level oral and written communication skills and the ability to work and liaise with other health professionals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to education and research including a demonstrated personal commitment to continuing medical education.
