The Role:
An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Consultant Anaesthetist to join a team, based in a regional setting.

The position offers a unique opportunity to influence the further development and expansion of the Anaesthetic services within the region.

  • Join a highly motivated team providing anaesthetic services to the Hospital and Health Service.
  • Opportunity to develop areas of clinical interest to you within anaesthesia (including obstetrics and regional), ICU, perioperative medicine, pain management, medical education and wellbeing.
  • Provide training to anaesthetic trainees and other health professionals and ensure continued evidence-based practice.
  • To support continued improvement of health services by participating in quality improvement opportunities

The position requires the incumbent to fulfil clinical on-call requirements in Anaesthetics practice and undertake on-call in Anaesthetics in line with their approved scope of clinical practice. You will also be expected to provide services to ICU patients under the care of their admitting specialist and remote supervising intensivist.
 
The position may require travel by commercial or charter plane and/or vehicle to other Hospital/s and/or Health Centre/s dependent on travel requirements.

The Hospital:
The Hospital and Health Service covers an area of over 300,000 square kilometres and services the rural and remote communities, it has developed into the major referral hospital for the region, with smaller satellite hospitals. It offers primary, secondary and community health services in addition to specialist services such as anaesthetics, paediatrics, psychiatry, surgery and obstetrics & gynaecology. It also hosts a range of clinics in specialty and sub-specialty services.

Skills/Qualifications:
Current registration with or/eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
The applicant will hold: Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent acceptable to the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and registrable as a specialist with the Medical Board of Queensland.
 
THE BENEFITS:
An impressive remuneration package of up to $560, 000 p.a. comprising), recreational leave loading (17.5%), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%), motor vehicle allowance, professional development assistance (allowances and leave), attraction and retention incentive allowance, rural and remote attraction allowance, locality allowance and inaccessibility allowance. Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications.
