We are looking for a Consultant Nephrologist to work in this beautiful regional setting. This will be in close cooperation with other Nephrologist and General Medicine Physicians.
The Specialist Nephrologist position has a primary focus on the provision of clinical services; however, the incumbent will have the opportunity to be involved in academic and teaching activities in close association with Deakin University academic and teaching staff.

General:

  • Nephrology training, experience, and skills to confidently practice in a regional setting.
  • Experience in teaching and training of undergraduate medical students and post graduate Hospital Medical Officers and Registrars.

Clinical:

  • A primary medical qualification registered or registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of RACP
  • Experience and skills in the field of Nephrology appropriate to practicing in a regional area.
  • An understanding of the role of evidence-based medicine in the practice of Nephrology.
  • An understanding of quality and safety in the practice of Nephrology.

Management:

  • An ability to participate in an effective clinical team.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people and organisations.
  • An ability to effectively promote the service to other clinicians and agencies and to the broader community.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with medical practitioners and other health professionals.

Academic/Teaching:

  • Experience in undergraduate medical education and/or post graduate medical teaching

Essential:

  1. FRACP – Specialist registration with AHPRA to practice as a Nephrologist.
  2. Has broad experience in Nephrology to enable confident clinical practice in a regional area.
  3. Has effective communication, conflict management and team building skills.
  4. Has experience in and a positive attitude relating to the training needs of junior medical staff.
